UniBond Quality

Quality manufacturing is central at UniBond. All our shoes are manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards, using the Advanced Quality Planning and PPAP processes established by automotive and heavy duty OEMs including Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

Critical dimensional controls such as shoe radius are monitored and controlled to ensure that UniBond shoes provide uniform and balanced braking performance. Computerized gauges precisely measure individual brake shoe radius. Controls on the shoe radius form prevent hot spots which can shorten friction and drum life.

Heat treatment of shoe anchor and cam slots prevent “mushrooming” of these critical interface points.

UniBond’s products are free of Conflict Materials. For more detail, see our Conflict Materials Compliance Certification.

Seam welding webs and tables in our most popular styles provide complete welding coverage along the entire brake shoe surface. Seam welds provide a durable weld while minimizing distortion of the table form.

High-grade steel meets tightly controlled specifications to ensure strength, weld and performance. High-grade carbon steel is used on all shoes for durability. Steel grades are monitored by certified laboratories.

E-coating (electro-deposition coating) stops rust before it starts, through electrochemically bonding paint to the steel of every new brake shoe. UniBond brake shoes are environmentally tested to withstand 960 hours of salt spray.

The UniBond Difference

UniBond manufactures superior-quality OE hardware which is sold directly to major OEMs. The same, rigorously tested hardware is used in every new lined shoe kit UniBond sells. Manufacturing processes follow world class Six Sigma practices to keep defects at a level of less than ten parts per million defectives.
